GATHERING MATERIALS

The first thing we did was that me and Izaeus went Straight up the hill to go and get some gilly. The reason why we got some gilly was because it's sturdy, and bendy. We knew we needed a lot to make the nest. Mrs Hay gave each group a box to put all of our materials in. It was me and Izaeus that worked together so Izaeus just filled up the massive box with a whole lot of gilly. We thought we had enough so we started to head down the hill.

BUILDING THE NEST

The second thing we did was we walked down the hill to start our nests. We started to curve the gilly into the shape of a bird's nest. And then I started to thicken up the edges and make it more stable. I used some wool and cotton to tie the gilly around so it wasn't loose and wouldn't break as easily. And because Mrs Hay said we were going to do a challenge/test on our birds nest to see who had the most stable and sturdiest nest.

RULES

Because we are making a nest Mrs Hay made it harder and said we could only use natural materials and things outside because if we didn’t listen and use man made materials hat's not making a nest because birds only use material from outside the house.

Thursday 23 September 2021

Miss has asked us to make a diorama so we all agreed and we picked our groups. We have been planning to make a diorama about a tui nest. The materials that we will need are sticks, twigs, mud, small branches, vines, and grass. These are the people in my group, Manaaki, Liam, Ringakaha, Qwaylin, Izaeus, and Me, Xzavia. Our nest will be wide and deep with 4 to 6 white eggs inside for the decoration and the eggs will be made out of paper mache.See the source image
